Designing QRIS for Equitable Impact: How Louisiana Created Alignment to Improve Quality at Scale
In 2015, the Louisiana Department of Education launched an ambitious effort to revise their QRIS in order to improve quality in ECE programs. A key component to their QRIS evolution was the decision to align on a single, unified metric on a statewide level: the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). Louisiana’s groundbreaking use of one system as the sole indicator of program quality for early childhood settings across the state has built a culture of focused improvement for teachers, administrators, and parents.
