Early Childhood Education Teachers 2.0: Strategies to Transform the Profession

In 2015, three local nonprofit organizations formed the Early Childhood Education Workforce Transformation Initiative (ECEWTI) to study the early childhood education workforce and to make recommendations for change. Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC), Montgomery Early Learning Centers (MELC), and Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) collected and analyzed ECE workforce data. This report presents key findings and recommendations organized in three major sections: teacher recruitment; teacher preparation; and, teacher retention and advancement. Because the areas are related, it will be essential to implement change in all three in order to ultimately achieve positive outcomes for children.
