Early Learning Interagency Policy Board (IPB) Report to the Secretaries of Education and Health and Human Services
With goals of aligning early learning programs across systems and improving access and quality in federal early learning programs, in 2010, the U.S. Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services established the Early Learning Interagency Policy Board (IPB). Since its inception, the IPB has convened a number of agencies with influence on early learning and development to offer their expertise to states and local communities. Thus, the IPB provides an example for interagency coordination and a model for cross-departmental coordination and collaboration at the state and local levels. This report summarizes the successes and challenges of the IPB and suggests future plans for the board.
