Camille Catlett is a Scientist at the University of North Carolina's Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. Her research efforts have focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating models for preparing personnel to work with young children who are culturally, linguistically and ability-diverse. Camille led a team of colleagues in developing and evaluating Crosswalks, an evidence-based model for incorporating a consistent emphasis on diversity in the coursework, field experiences, and program practices of a higher education program. Crosswalks is currently being replicated in seven states.
Since 1992, Camille has led strategic planning efforts designed to promote systemic change in professional development in over 30 states. Camille designed and facilitated BUILD’s Learning Table on cultural, linguistic, and ability diversity in 2012. She is currently working with three states to incorporate an explicit and intentional emphasis on diversity within their QRIS.
